Concha y Toro in Attendance at the Inauguration of the 4th Global Conference on Wine Tourism in Santa Cruz

This past Thursday December 5th, the opening ceremony was held at the Hotel Santa Cruz in Colchagua. Authorities and important figures from the world of wine and tourism from over 20 countries came together in the event sponsored by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Government of Chile. Over 400 people came together in the Colchagua Valley, a renowned Chilean wine region, for a conference that sought to explore and expand the different opportunities for wine tourism. The UNWTO entrusted Chile with the organization of the fourth edition of this event, under the title “Co-creating Innovative Experiences.“ The conference analyzed trends, success stories and best wine tourism practices. 

In the segment on “Wine Tourism Experiences, from Imagination to Commercialization”, Isabel Guilisasti -the Origin Wines Marketing Manager for Concha y Toro- was invited to present the success story of the Casillero del Diablo brand and to participate in a round table discussion along with Gustavo Santos -National Secretary of Tourism (Argentina)-, Beatriz Vergara – Wine Tourism Director for González Byass-  Luis Güemes Barrios – Manager / Technical Director for Bodega 202 (Spain) and Sheree M. Mitchell -President and Founder of Immersa Global (Portugal)-.


The history of Concha y Toro, the origin of the legend of Casillero del Diablo, its transcendence over time and space, and the Casillero del Diablo experience at the Pirque tourism center were just some of the topics included in the presentation made by Isabel Guilisasti. Guilisasti also spoke about the winery’s latest innovations in terms of infrastructure and technology (new ticket and online sales system, ticket self-service kiosk, Customer Data Platform) and in terms of tours. Finally, Isabel referred to wineries’ responsibility towards the community and offered the example of the Wine Bar at the Pirque tourism center, where providers are local – with fruits and vegetables grown in Pirque and Maipo-.

Under the premise of promoting a vision of wine tourism as an agent for sustainable development and improving the range of proposals offered by wineries around the world, the different speakers addressed topics linked to unique experiences for visitors, the development of local communities, eco-sustainable practices and recommendations.
