Share

The May edition of the US-based Wine Spectator magazine, one of the world’s most important wine publications, included its Annual Tasting of Chilean wines. In his article “Chile’s Big Red Machine,” wine critic Kim Marcus gave the 2012 Don Melchor the top score, 95 points, thereby positioning it as the best of the 250 wines tasted.

Marcus also cited the refined and complex character of the 2012 vintage and affirmed that “this wine is a testament to the vision and dedication of winemaker Enrique Tirado and ranks with the world´s great Cabernets. Don Melchor stands at the pinnacle of Chilean winemaking.”

The 2012 Don Melchor was also selected as a Top Wine and was included on Wine Spectator’s annual list of Collectible Wines, dedicated exclusively to wines of extraordinary potential in value and over time.

“Suave and refined, with rich, dense flavors of dried berry, dark plum, rose petal and  bramble. Offers fine-grained tannins and accents of green olive. Finishes with hints of  hot stone, dried beef and white pepper. Complex.”
