In addition to the extraordinary 96 points for the 2013 Don Melchor in the latest edition of the Descorchados wine guide by journalist Patricio Tapia, the Wines of Origin portfolio in general has received numerous outstanding scores
The influential publication awarded 93 points to Gravas Blancas, the line’s Sauvignon Blanc by winemaker Enrique Tirado, which was also named the Best Wine of the Bío Bío Valley. The critic also gave 95 points to both the 2015 Gravas del Maipo and the 2015 Gravas Rojas Cabernet Sauvignon.
The well-respected publication granted 93 points to the 2015 vintage of Amelia, Concha y Toro’s Ultra Premium Chardonnay by winemaker Ignacio Recabarren, and an outstanding 97 points to the 2014 Terrunyo Cabernet Sauvignon Lote Nº1—the Terrunyo line’s highest score in the guide—and also named it the Best Wine from Pirque.
The 2016 Terrunyo Sauvignon Blanc earned 96 points and was included among the Best Whites, Best Sauvignon Blancs, and Best Wines of Casablanca.
The 2015 Terrunyo Carmenere earned 95 points and was named among the Best Carmeneres and the Best Wines of the Cachapoal Valley, while the 2014 Terrunyo Cabernet Sauvignon received 93 points and was also listed among the Best Wines of Pirque.
Marques de Casa Concha, the brand led by winemaker Marcelo Papa, also earned great scores. The 2015 Marques de Casa Concha Chardonnay achieved 92 points, which placed it among the Best Chardonnays and the Best Wines of Limarí, while the 2015 Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon received 93 points.
The 2014 Marques de Casa Concha Syrah and Carmenere were both awarded 92 points, and the latter was included among the Best Wines of Cachapoal.
The 2014 Marques de Casa Concha merlot received 91 points and was named among the Best Merlots.
The Gran Reserva Serie Riberas line—headed up by winemakers Marcio Ramírez, Mario Miranda, and Héctor Urzúa—also received great scores. The Syrah obtained 93 points and was named among the Best Wines of the Maule Valley, while the 2016 Gran Reserva Serie Riberas Sauvignon Blanc earned 92 points.
The 2015 Gran Reserva Serie Riberas Malbec also received 92 points and joined the ranks of Chile’s Best Malbecs, with the 2015 Gran Reserva Serie Riberas Cabernet Sauvignon was distinguished with 91 points. And finally, Vigno scored 93 points and was designated one of the Best Carignans of Chile, marking once again an extraordinary performance by the Wines of Origin portfolio in the Descorchados guide to Chilean wine.
