The February edition of the influential US Wine & Spirits magazine granted 91 points to the 2013 Gran Reserva Serie Riberas Cabernet Sauvignon, included it on its list of the Best Cabernet Sauvignons of Chile for 2015, and placed it in the “Best Buy” category.
The score earned this red by winemaker Marcio Ramírez a place among the Best Cabernet Sauvignons of the Colchagua Valley and affirms that the terroir on the southern bank of the Tinguiririca River in Marchigüe is a prime origin for red wine grapes.
The “Year’s Best Chilean Reds” list included 21 Cabernet Sauvignons selected by wine critic Patricio Tapia—who is in charge of tasting the Chilean wines for the publication—after tasting 261 new vintages over the course of the year 2015.
“Marchigüe, in western Colchagua, is cooled by winds of the Pacific Ocean. That climate typically gives some of the freshest wines in the region, like this one, with its spicy black fruit intersecting vivid acidity. It feels energetic, yet smooth and refreshing, ready to pour now with a meaty pot roast.”
