The wine by winemaker Marcelo Papa shared the honor with wines from Australia and South Africa, two of the world’s most outstanding producers of this variety.

The Global Syrah Masters competition, whose results were announced in September, is part of a series of competitions by variety organized by The Drinks Business and consists of a series of blind tastings by a jury of renowned Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers, and experienced wine buyers.

The Syrah category was added this year for the first time and distinguished the best Syrahs from the Old and New Worlds.
