Concha y Toro

ISABEL MITARAKIS Gravas

"As a winemaker, my greatest challenge is looking after all the details involved in the wine process —not interfering with the extraordinary expression of the grapes from this vineyard or altering their qualities, but rather just guiding them throughout the entire process".

Isabel earned her degree in Agricultural Engineering with a specialization in Enology from the Catholic University of Chile. She began her professional career with the 2011 harvest at Concha y Toro where she worked closely with winemaker Marcelo Papa (Enology Director).

In January 2013 she joined the Don Melchor team, where she is the assistant winemaker for the icon Cabernet Sauvignon from Alto Maipo, supervising the various processes along with winemaker Enrique Tirado. Since 2019, Isabel has been in charge of the the Gravas line, which includes Gravas del Maipo, Gravas Rojas, and Gravas Blancas, wines whose character and style each reflect their particular terroir, demonstrating Concha y Toro’s potential as a producer of world-class wines.

In August 2011 she worked the crush at Berlucchi in Franciacorta, Italy. She also trained at Fetzer Vineyards (Mendocino, California, USA). In 2012 she participated in the harvest at Château Mouton Rothschild (Bordeaux, France), where she joined the vinification team and visited other wineries in Médoc and St. Émilion.
