The most recent vintage of Don Melchor 2021 released to market is a wine of tremendous aromatic complexity, with red fruits and small berries accompanied by floral notes of violets. The palate offers great breadth, a velvety texture, a long and expressive finish, and all of the elegance and potency characteristic of Puente Alto.
The new vintage—the 35th since its first in 1987—is a reflection of the magnificent Puente Alto terroir and the best expression of every parcel in the vineyard.
According to Viña Don Melchor CEO and technical director, Enrique Tirado, “the 2021 season allowed us to have very dense, long, and expressive wines full of concentration that highlight the fruit and the quality of the textures achieved in every variety in the Don Melchor Vineyard. They show a very good balance between elegance and energy and are full of expression in their flavors and aromas”.
The 2021 Melchor—which is composed of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Merlot and spent 15 months in French oak barrels (68% new and 32% second use)—is further evidence that Enrique Tirado and the entire team behind this great wine have once again found the perfect balance between the energy and expression of the vineyard and the elegance so characteristic of the Puente Alto terroir.
