Julie Sheppard, the regional editor of Decanter for Spain, Portugal, and South America, and Andrew Catchpole, the editor of Harpers Wine & Spirit, paid a visit to the winery to gain knowledge about the wines of the Luxury Brands Chile portfolio from the appellations of Puente Alto, Peumo, and Limarí. At the same time, Jamal Rayyis, a writer for Wine & Spirits, tasted the Don Melchor and Marques de Casa Concha Heritage wines, which represent the Puente Alto appellation.

On November 21 from England, Julie Sheppard and Andrew Catchpole visited the Don Melchor Vineyard in Puente Alto, where they were able to learn about the calicata and soil profile of this iconic vineyard, in addition to the solar vineyard project, which the Don Melchor winemaking team has promoted since its planting in 2018.

Afterward, they visited Casona Don Melchor in Pirque to try out the wines representing the Puente Alto appellation. They were accompanied by Marcelo Papa, Concha y Toro’s Technical Director, and Sergio Hormazábal, Don Melchor’s team winemaker. Marcelo presented Marques Heritage 2021 and 2022, while Sergio introduced them to Don Melchor in 2014, 2020, and 2021.

Marcio Ramírez, the Peumo appellation’s winemaker, presented the Terrunyo Carmenere 2018 and 2021, along with Concha y Toro’s iconic wine, Carmín de Peumo, from the same vintages.

During lunch, Marcelo Papa,  winemaker, presented Amelia Chardonnay 2021 and 2022 and Amelia Pinot Noir 2021 and 2022, exponents of the D.O Limarí.

On 28 November, writer, editor, and specialized educator Jamal Rayyis was given a tour of the Don Melchor vineyard. During his visit to Casona, Jamal had the chance to try the wines of Puente Alto D.O. He was accompanied by Enrique Tirado, the CEO and Technical Director of Viña Don Melchor. Together, they tasted the 1988, 2001, 2014, 2020, and 2021 vintages of Don Melchor. Jamal also tasted the 2020, 2021, and 2022 vintages of Marques de Casa Concha Heritage with winemaker Isabel Mitarakis.
