Concha y Toro’s icon Carmenere was dazzled with 93 points in the latest article by the British specialized media, Decanter. Find out the details below!

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the rediscovery of the celebrated Carmenere grape variety, esteemed British journalist Amanda Barnes authored an article entitled “Carmenère marks 30 years in Chile” for Decanter magazine. Within the article, Concha y Toro’s distinguished Carmenere, Carmín de Peumo, achieved an exceptional rating of 93 points for its 2021 vintage.

Amanda spoke highly of the renowned Peumo appellation’s great exponent:

“Concha y Toro’s Terrunyo Carmenère is their reliable flagship, but this super-premium Carmin de Peumo offers a far more seductive vision of the variety. Coming from one of the most celebrated appellations for Carmenère, this 2021 vintage highlights the ripe red fruit opulence that can be achieved in Peumo even in moderate years. Roasted red pepper spice and cacao play out on the smooth, supple finish.”

Over its history, Carmín de Peumo has consistently impressed international critics, solidifying its position as one of Chile’s most acclaimed Carmenere wines. This recent score of 93 points further validates its ongoing pursuit of excellence and its commitment to capturing the essence of Peumo, the birthplace of the finest Carmenere.
