Amelia Chardonnay’s latest 2024 release receives an impressive 96 points

Just a few months after the release of its new 2024 vintage, Amelia Chardonnay once again shines for its remarkable potential, this time in the eyes of one of the industry’s most influential specialized media outlets, The Drinks Business. Patrick Schmitt, Master of Wine and editor-in-chief of the publication, described it as “probably Chile’s greatest expression of Chardonnay.”

The British specialized media outlet The Drinks Business recently published an article titled “Six delicious new-release Chardonnays from Chile,” in which Patrick Schmitt — Master of Wine and editor-in-chief — highlighted six great Chilean labels, including Amelia Chardonnay 2024.

On this occasion, Amelia Chardonnay, which has just launched its new 2024 vintage, received the highest score in the report — 96 points — and was described by Patrick Schmitt as:

“Probably Chile’s greatest expression of Chardonnay, Amelia is the top of the pile white from Concha y Toro, and uses grapes from Limarí’s Quebrada Seca sub-region, which was planted in 2009. The wine is outstanding, with a lovely oily-textured core, and notes of toasted marshmallow, peanuts, pear and peach. As you sip it, more flavours abound, with fresh lemon and rock salt emerging, mixed with crushed chalk and freshly-struck matchstick. Wonderful in being creamy and citric at the same time, offering both richness and refreshment.”

This new recognition, the first for the new vintage of Amelia Chardonnay, undoubtedly reaffirms the great enological potential of this wine, coming from one of the most recognized and extreme terroirs for this variety: the Quebrada Seca vineyard in the Limarí Valley.

Marcelo Papa, technical director of Concha y Toro and winemaker of the Amelia wine line, comments: “This recognition for the new Amelia vintage fills us with pride, as it validates the constant and excellent work we carry out in the Quebrada Seca vineyard. It is an achievement that pays tribute to the joint effort of our agricultural and technical team and reflects the unique character of an exceptional terroir in the Limarí Valley. It reaffirms to us that in Chile we have all the potential to bring the expression of Chardonnay to the highest level.”

This new score — the first awarded to the 2024 vintage of Amelia Chardonnay — reaffirms the enormous potential of the Limarí Valley as one of the great origins for the production of high-end Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. We invite you to read the full article by clicking here.
