Marcelo Papa, Technical Director of Concha y Toro, has given the green light to start a new harvest season at our extreme vineyard, Quebrada Seca, located in the renowned Limarí appellation.
On February 10th, the 2024-2025 harvest begins at Quebrada Seca Vineyard, from which Concha y Toro’s Super Premium and Ultra Premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines are produced.
Marcelo Papa comments: “The minimum and maximum temperatures this season have been within the historical average. Additionally, there were more precipitation events compared to last year’s harvest, with most of it occurring during the winter. This has allowed us to begin the harvest on time, without any delays or advances.” He also adds, “The harvest from the specific blocks that produce our high-end wines, Amelia Chardonnay and Amelia Pinot Noir, is expected to take no more than 10 days.”
Thanks to adequate water availability throughout the season, a crucial factor in this extreme region of the country, the vineyard has experienced favorable development, which directly impacts the quality of the harvest and results in excellent balance in the fruits.
He further adds: “This year’s flowering occurred within normal parameters, which indicates that the harvest will align with the traditional dates. Once again, we are seeing the typical 100-day gap between flowering and harvest, which has been a hallmark of our Quebrada Seca vineyard.”
A key factor in achieving an excellent harvest has been the great work carried out by the Concha y Toro agricultural team, led by Max Larraín, the company’s Agricultural Manager, who have worked tirelessly to ensure the highest fruit quality and meet the objectives set for this very special vineyard.
In this new harvest season, both the climatic balance and the health of the fruits stand out, anticipating a high-quality harvest. Check Marcelo Papa’s message!
