Joaquín Hidalgo, the specialist journalist responsible for tasting wines from Chile and Argentina for Vinous, visited the Peumo winery to learn more about the birthplace of Carmenere and taste some of the latest harvests.

Last Thursday, February 23, Vinous specialized journalist Joaquín Hidalgo visited our facilities in Peumo as part of his tour around the country to prepare his next report on Chilean wines.

Given Hidalgo’s interest in learning more about Carmenere and its terroir, the visit to the Peumo vineyard focused mainly on this variety’s labels, such as Carmín de Peumo and Terrunyo Carmenere, of which he was able to taste several iconic vintages.

He also tasted other winery icons such as Marques de Casa Concha, Amelia, and Master Edition, a tasting led by our winemakers Marcelo Papa – Technical Director Concha y Toro – and Marcio Ramirez – winemaker at Peumo Winery.

Joaquín Hidalgo has made a career writing about wines for various Argentine media, such as La Nación and La Mañana de Neuquén. He is also the founder of Vinómanos, the first mobile guide to Argentine wines. He is also in charge of tasting Chilean and Argentine wines for Vinous, one of the most prestigious specialized media in the world.
