Renowned wine writers visit Viña Concha y Toro

Lauren Mowery and Paul Caputo, renowned writers in the wine industry, visited Viña Concha y Toro to experience part of the company’s luxury winemaking offer and to learn more about Chilean wine. 

Lauren Mowery, who currently writes for Wine Enthusiast and Forbes, and Paul Caputo, award-winning British writer for Decanter, Forbes, The Buyer, and Vinorandum, visited Viña Concha y Toro for a luxury experience and to learn more about our wines and terroirs.  

Their visit began with the Don Melchor Winemaking Experience, where they had a chance to taste samples from the 7 plots of the Don Melchor Vineyard and learn about the different characteristics that each one contributes to the final Don Melchor blend. Then they tasted the 35th vintage of the icon Cabernet Sauvignon from Puente Alto: Don Melchor 2021.  

They also learned about the different environmentally friendly agricultural practices performed at the Don Melchor Vineyard, such as vegetation corridors, biological corridors, and the latest innovation at Viña Don Melchor: the solar-powered vineyard.  

To round out their trip, Marcelo Papa, Technical Director for Concha y Toro, led a tasting of the three labels included within Viña Concha y Toro’s Luxury Brands portfolio: Marques de Casa Concha Heritage 2021, Amelia Chardonnay 2022, and Amelia Pinot Noir 2022.  

“It was really nice to welcome Lauren and Paul to our estate home in Pirque and talk to them about the different sustainable practices we are implementing in our vineyards. We also had a chance to share with them the richness of our terroirs for the production of high-end wines,” says Marcelo Papa.
