100 Days from Flowering: The Beginning of a New Expression of Limarí

Every vintage begins long before harvest. For me, one of the key moments is flowering, when the vineyard begins to show the first signs of what the new vintage will bring.

At Quebrada Seca, in the Limarí Valley, this marks the beginning of approximately 100 days of evolution. The flowers give way to the first fruit, the bunches begin to develop and, together with the team, we start to understand how the season is unfolding.

Throughout these months, we spend a great deal of time in the vineyard, observing how the vines evolve and respond to the distinctive conditions of Quebrada Seca, shaped by its proximity to the ocean and the influence of the desert.

We have been working as a team in Limarí for many years, and each vintage allows us to continue learning about the potential of this origin. At Amelia, our focus is entirely on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, seeking to create wines defined by freshness, minerality and precision, which clearly express the character of Quebrada Seca.

As we approach harvest, our work becomes even more precise. Approximately two weeks before picking, we walk through and taste the vineyard: we observe the physiology of the vines, taste the grapes and assess their ripeness. But something else also comes into play, something we have built vintage after vintage: the team’s experience and sensitivity in interpreting the vineyard and determining the precise moment to harvest.

That is why these 100 days are not simply a measure of time. They are a period of observation, learning and decision-making that allows us to follow the vineyard’s evolution all the way through to harvest.

One hundred days in which a new expression of Quebrada Seca begins to take shape.
