A few months ago, Chile’s Fifth Region suffered massive fires damaging large areas. For this reason, our company donated native trees grown in Viña Concha y Toro’s tree nurseries.

In February 2024, Viña del Mar and Valparaíso in Chile’s Fifth Region were affected by forest fires ravaging more than 90% of the Botanical Garden, so Concha y Toro, together with its Gran Reserva brand, donated 2,000 native trees to the institution in support of their reforestation plan.

Quillay trees are grown in the company’s nurseries, managed by Viña Concha y Toro’s Agricultural Management in Pencahue.

Regarding the donation, Botanical Garden Director Alejandro Peirano commented: ” We highly appreciate Concha y Toro’s tree donation. They are the right vegetation to put here. The Quillay is our valued sclerophyll forest. We are incredibly grateful for this beautiful contribution. I think it is a wonderful support in line with what we are doing”.

In turn, Adriana Arancibia, Head of Horticulture at the Botanical Garden, said: “Concha y Toro’s contribution is important for us in two ways. One is the emotional value for workers, encouraging us in what we do. We are also extremely grateful to receive native trees that the garden will very well receive. They give a special meaning to the people here; they are the trees that behaved best in the face of fire, and it is our goal that the Botanical Garden becomes green again, but with native species”.

We plan to plant these trees in soon, giving them enough time to adapt to their new environment.
