The Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere and Etiqueta Negra received outstanding scores in the latest editions of the most prestigious U.S. wine magazines.
Wine Spectator, one of the most influential specialized media outlets in the United States, awarded 91 points to the Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 and Carmenere 2018 in its May edition. e publication also selected the Cabernet Sauvignon as one of the “New World Values” of Chile.
Meanwhile, the scrupulous wine tasting team at Wine & Spirits, gave 92 points to the Marques de Casa Concha Etiqueta Negra 2018 and the Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, in its June edition dedicated to red wines from Maipo. Editor Joshua Greene comments: “Marcelo Papa heads up the winemaking team at Concha y Toro, and one of his most impressive achievements during his years at the company has been the transformation of Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet. He focuses the wine on Tocornal Oriente, a vineyard in Puente Alto across the road from Don Melchor. He also includes a significant contribution from Pirque (35 percent) on the south bank of the Maipo River. e wine far outperforms its price—a 2018 with nesse in its tannins and gracious strawberry plum avors. It’s a cool cabernet with a Bordeaux accent and a Chilean lilt.”
