Ways to travel without leaving home

Share

Because traveling is a tremendously enriching activity, it should not be an impediment if our mobility is limited. There are other ways of doing it that do not mean a physical displacement, but that said do take into account those valuable gifts that our body offers us daily: the mind and the senses. Through them it is possible to discover the world around us without leaving our home, especially if we take advantage of the digital era in which we live, moving virtually or through sensory experiences. Are you ready?

  • Experience the magic of Glastonbury

Those who enjoy live music will already know about the legendary UK festival, which every summer brings together hundreds of bands and more than 200,000 spectators for five days in the prairies of the place that gives it its name, Glastonbury. Its last edition was in 2019 and while we wait for it to be held again, this coming May 22nd and 23th it will be possible to visit the famous Worthy Farm thanks to the livestream of an extraordinary concert. As part of an uninterrupted film production, Coldplay, Damon Albarn, HAIM, IDLES, Michael Kiwanuka, Jorja Smith, Kano, Wolf Alice and DJ Honey Dijon will perform a five-hour show. To enjoy it even more at home, we invite you to uncork a light and refreshing wine like Casillero del Diablo Rosé. Check all the information about tickets and schedules, here.

  • Discover the fantastic spots of Yosemite National Park

Thanks to technology, today it is possible to visit places we have never been with just one click. Virtual tours take us from museums to national parks, through incredible drone flights, underwater videos and 360-degree views that give us the feeling of being physically in the place. Here we suggest you travel to the state of California, in the United States, to discover its famous Yosemite National Park. You can take a chance on a climb to the mythical El Capitan, or take a walk among wild flowers, do a trekking along its paths by rivers, forests and glaciers, or other activities, from the comfort of your home. Have fun discovering this sublime landscape with a glass of a wine to match this adventure… an extreme wine: Gravas del Bio Bío, a Sauvignon Blanc grown in the extreme south of Chile.

  • Let your palate take you to Ethiopia

Another way to travel is through food. Its flavours and aromas are like a time machine capable of transporting us into memories of the past. At the same time, we can explore other cultures through our taste buds. If the cuisine we want to try is extremely far away, it may be hard to get some ingredients becoming a delicious challenge too. We invite you to travel to Ethiopia, probably the best-kept gastronomic secret in Africa that contains one of the greatest vegetarian food in the world. You can start by preparing Injera: a spongy flatbread, which is used as the base where the rest of the preparations that they eat by hand are served. Shiro, for example, a warm stew made from chickpea flour, spices and chili peppers; Doro Wot, a spicy chicken and egg stew often served at Christmas, or Kitfo, an exotic version of meat tartar. Complement this sensorial experience with a spiced red wine such as Carmín de Peumo, a delicious Carmenere from the Cachapoal Valley. All recipes here.

  • Make a holiday photo book

Reviving a trip you have already made can be a nostalgic, but also very joyful moment. In this digital era we have put aside photographs printed on paper, so taking the time to create a printed photo book can be very special. You will have to review the pictures in your gallery (which in general are many) and choose those moments that you really want to treasure in your album, bringing yourself back to that destination and revisiting all the anecdotes that you lived. There are many apps to do it through your phone, but I recommend FreePrints Photobooks or Once Upon. Both are very friendly, with great alternatives in designs, prices, and they deliver the album to your doorstep. If you are looking for some inspiration or if you already have it in your hands, enjoy your trip with a glass of Amelia Pinot Noir. Apps available in the App Store and Google Play.
