Our wine from the D.O. Limarí was part of the select list of white wines presented by the Argentine wine critic, Joaquín Hidalgo, in his latest masterclass held in New York: “White Wines of the Andes”.
With the aim of reaffirming the great diversity and quality of the white wines of the southern hemisphere, the renowned wine critic responsible for tasting the wines of Chile and Argentina for the specialized medium Vinous, Joaquín Hidalgo, led an exclusive masterclass in New York City (USA).
On this occasion, a member of Viña Concha y Toro’s Luxury Brands portfolio, Amelia Chardonnay 2021, was part of the select group of wines presented by Hidalgo in his seminar “White Wines of the Andes,” which consisted of four Chilean and four Argentine labels.
During the tasting, Hidalgo highlighted Marcelo Papa, Technical Director of Concha y Toro and winemaker of Amelia, as “a talented and precise winemaker. He has all the information you need but cannot find. This wine displays the Limari Chardonnay style — concentration, freshness, chalky soil and bright sun”.
“White wine is so transparent in its terroir. These wines show how similar conditions influence the wines on the East and West of the Andes. By removing the political boundaries you see how the true boundaries are geography, climate, soil and sun,” Joaquín Hidalgo concludes in his masterclass on white wines.
