Terrunyo features in The Somm Journal and National Geographic web seminar

Marcio Ramírez, chief winemaker for the Terrunyo line, participated in a webinar entitled “Luxury of notable places.”

In the spirit of continuing to provide continuing education to beverage professionals and consumers, The SOMM Journal, in association with National Geographic and SommCon, is conducting a unique and complimentary wine tasting webinar series entitled “Geographical Digest.

Marcio Ramírez, Terrunyo’s chief winemaker, participated in the webinar entitled the “Luxury of notable places” on April 22, where he presented Terrunyo’s brand Peumo territory, considered one of the best places in the world to produce Carmenere.

In his presentation, Ramírez explained where this terroir is located, what characteristics there are that make it ideal for this variety, and how Carmenere was rediscovered in Chile after several years of being confused with another variety Merlot.

Also, he talked about all the work that the Concha y Toro vineyard has done with Carmenere and how today it develops premium segment wines with this variety.

Also presenting during the webinar were Penfolds Grange and Torbreck from the Barossa Valley from South Australia. Also, Garzon de Maldonado vineyard, Uruguay; Banfi and Oreno, both from Italy; and 00 Wines from the Willamette Valley, in the United States.
